There are moments when one asks oneself how much suffering one can endure and how very heavy destinies touch. On the other hand, there is also the knowledge that many people selflessly do much good for sufferers. Last Saturday, 18 November, the “Provident Children’s” invited to the “Old Schilderhaus” at the TuS Union for a charity event.
The focus of the event was Peter Mensah from Ghana. His fate touched everyone very much.
In Kumasi, a city of millions in Ghana / West Africa, seven-year-old Peter was sent back home from school in August this year. Peter had not brought the 50 cent copy money that was needed.
The little boy, who came from a poor home, was disturbed by the teacher’s instructions and wanted to go home. No sooner had he left the school building, confused, than it happened: A truck seized Peter and seriously injured the boy. Peter’s legs dangled like a puppet on his body.
A taxi driver put the seriously injured child in the trunk because he was afraid of fouling the passenger compartment. A scene that is hard to imagine and absurd for Europeans. After all, he brought Peter to a clinic. There is the boy until today. His treatment has cost a smaller six-figure sum since that day and it’s not over yet.
Peter Mensah, however, had great luck in the disaster: Nearby and by coincidence was Cecilia Boateng, who also comes from Ghana.
Cecilia Boateng learned about Peter’s fate on the spot and decided to help him. She is not related to Jérôme Boateng. “Boateng is a name in Ghana like Meier, Müller or Schulz,” says Cecilia, smiling.
She worked in the Protestant hospital here in Mülheim. There she also got to know her partner, sports journalist Joachim Droll. “On my way to my luck, no stones were put in my way but kidney stones were removed,” says Droll with a smile.
Together, the two are committed to needy and needy children. Cecilia founded the charitable association “Provident Children’s Charity Foundation” in 2016 with some African women members.
This organization collects donations to help children like Peter. So many African citizens gathered in the “Old Schilderhaus” on Saturday to help. So that the fate of Peter takes a good turn with luck and money.
Pastor Pastor Lewis gave a speech with heart and soul that evening: “We want Peter to know there are still angels in this world to help. And we want to give him hope for a good future. ”
Cecilia Boateng thanked Pastor Lewis from Düsseldorf, the attendees and of course the previous donors and helpers of the association. It ended with the words, “Let’s give love today. God is love. Children are our future. ”
The association has set up a donation account especially for Peter Mensah. Peter needs leg prostheses in the near future, so he can learn to walk again.
Anyone who wants to help Peter, that his treatment is a success, can donate to the following account: keyword: Peter, Santander Bank, Iban DE 51 3101 0833 9907 7067 85; BIC CCBADE31.
Joachim Droll’s association with many athletes has already yielded some donations.
In Duisburg, the Lions Club Concordia donated 1,000 euros. The club includes MSV manager Ivo Grlic and MSV president Ingo Wald.
Former President Walter Hellmich has also participated. The entire team of MSV collected a handsome sum after a game against Aue in the cabin.
Ulli Potofski, known from the show RTL kick-off, and Hans Sarpei are also involved. The two sent video messages to the club, which were recorded as part of the charity event on Saturday.
